Shalloch
Irish Mandolin

© Frank Ford, 2001; Photos by FF

This instrument comes to us from our pals at Shalloch Folk Paradise in Hamburg, Germany. Shalloch is a stringed instrument shop specializing in Celtic music, and they have given us this interesting "Irish style" mandolin. At first blush, it may not look unusual, but check it out closely. It has a pin bridge like a guitar. The result is a mandolin with unusual sustain, and a great tone for traditional Celtic tunes.
