Simple Chip Shields

Being a lifetime glasses wearer, I tend to be a bit lax in my use of goggles, so I made up a pair of simple chip shields to avoid catching a hot one right straight in the eye.

One mounts to the head of my mill:

I had some of that flex snap-together tubing from another project, so all had to do was make a lightweight mount for a piece of 1/8" acrylic:

The second shield is even simpler.  It fits on my magnetic indicator holder, so I can position it just about anywhere, although I generally use it like this, so it follows the lathe carriage:

Either shield can be moved so easily that I find myself using both of them regularly. And I can take either of them off in a second or two to snap a photo. . .
