Using Dry Sandpaper "Wet"

This is a little trick I've used for years, mostly for leveling lacquer guitar finishes, but it's just as good a technique for metal working. Really, it's nothing more than a reminder that aluminum oxide or silicon carbide sandpaper that's made with water soluble glue will work just about as well as waterproof paper if you use kerosene or mineral spirits as a lubricant:
These abrasive sheets are quite a bit cheaper, and, being mostly a woodworker, I always have 'em around the shop.
