Ted hosted the meeting in his large but crowded shop just a couple of weeks before he had to pack it all up for his move to the Portland (Oregon) area. His shop is so stuffed with tools, fixtures and great setups that I spent quite a while taking pictures for one of my FRETS.COM "Field Trip" articles. I won't include those pictures here, but it's worth the effort to check out the stuff in the Field Trip section of the big FRETS.COM index page.


Here's Ted (far right) explaining one of his tools:

Ted buys and reconditions old tools so he has a special single purpose tool to improve the process of building his archtop guitars. He even has a table saw with a dado blade which is used only for cutting the notch in the junction of the x-brace for his guitar tops.
















Ted gave us the rundown on his latest new instrument, a blue stained maple and spruce jazz guitar with cocobolo fittings:
