FRETS.COM Tool Review

Three in one
Fret Checking Straightedge

Here's a great little tool! It's one of those "why-didn't-I-think-of-it" simple ideas, from our old friend, Steve Newberry. Steve is an active member of the
Northern California Association of Luthiers.

This stainless steel triangle is about 3/6" thick and has three accurately machined straight surfaces.

Steve calculated the lengths of the sides so that you can bridge three frets anywhere over the length of a guitar fingerboard.

The triangle is thick enough to balance easily on the frets using only one hand.

Rocking back & forth against three frets at a time it's a snap to locate a high or low one.

Pretty neat, isn't it? I bought this tool from
L.M.I. in Healdsburg, CA.
