If you look closely at this little file, you'll see that I've ground one full face of it entirely flat and safe. The idea is to drop the corner into a fret slot, and make a tiny bevel on just one upper edge of the slot, then turn the file over and bevel the other edge. I find this works much more easily and safely than trying to do both at once.
