Cutting Long Cardboard Tubes
I buy a number of items in long tubes - metal rods, for example. Instead of opening the tube at the end, I cut it in the middle with a hacksaw, so instead of a six foot tube, I have two three foot tubes with solid ends. By rolling the tube as I cut, I avoid nicking the contents. I can't handle six foot tubes in my shop, but the three foot size is perfect for storing all kinds of skinny items. Sometimes I get really creative and cut a six footer into a two and four foot section!
