A Simple Thread Restoration Tool
A Simple Thread Restoration Tool

I have this extra slim triangular file that I've ground smooth and flat on one face:
I just introduced it to Mr. Beltsander and completely removed the teeth on that surface.

With that one face ground flat, I have a file with razor sharp corners and one safe side:

It's just the thing for a quick cleanup of the final thread on this big metric cap screw I just finished turning with an eccentric end:

A few quick strokes using the smooth edge to glide along the good thread,

and I have the threads all nice and pretty, with nary a scratch in the wrong place:
The 60-degree file dropped right into the threads and cut nicely all the way to the bottom, using the good side of the thread groove as a guide.
