Use a capo:
I always keep capos handy at the bench for string retainers.
Use a stick:
A simple technique to keep strings out of the way while touching up or cleaning frets and fingerboard.
A drop of cyanoacrylate (super glue) on the screw and catalyst (acellerator) on the power screwdriver blade makes it easy to start and drive screws in impossible locations:
A sandbag or two can come in mighty handy. Nothing like 'em for weighing down a body if the neck is cantilevered out over the floor. Here I'm using a big sandbag to hold the cord of my bridge heater:
It really keeps things in place!
