Some 25 years ago, at a vintage fountain pen convention, I purchased five 30-inch lengths of 1940s plastic originally from a fountain pen factory:
In response to some requests for more interesting, gift-worthy string cranks, I've turned this material into handles, and can now offer them at GRYPHON

Each pearloid handled crank comes in its own. . . . CRANK CASE, a nice velvety drawstring gig bag.
I had just enough blue material to make just three small mandolin cranks, and five each of the medium and large guitar ones:
The two rods of green pearloid yeilded a total of nine medium and eight large cranks:
And, the gray multicolor rod was just enough to make seven small mandolin cranks, and only a single medium guitar one:
I have no more of this vintage pearloid material, so barring another surprise "find," I won't be able to make any more string winders llike these.
